This position reports to the Operation Smile Philippines office in Makati City.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

General Description:

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will support the recruitment, management, and engagement of current and new volunteers within the Philippines and the Asia region, as well as coordinate international volunteers joining medical programs hosted within those countries. In this position, you will work closely with the Operation Smile Philippines Staff, Program Operation Teams, Volunteer Systems and Resources Team, and other key departments to build local and international volunteer teams and support staff who work directly with volunteers on Volunteer Management best practices and Operation Smile processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and manage the Philippines volunteer program (outreach, recruitment, screening, orientation, local/international program placement, evaluation, recognition, and engagement) for medical & non-medical volunteers
  • Coordinate with local staff and Program Operations teams to determine volunteer team roles for programmatic activity, along with a plan for local and international volunteer identification and placement
  • Proactively coordinate all aspects of volunteer placement, flight/travel logistics, and volunteer preparation with appropriate volunteer management staff in the volunteer’s home country, program host country, and travel support staff
  • Strategize with Program Operations and Regional Volunteer Management (RVM) to offer international volunteer positions to partner and program countries in equitable ways that supports Operation Smile Philippines’ volunteer engagement goals
  • Upload and assess volunteer evaluations and escalate priority issues/comments to appropriate staff
  • Provide Program Manager and Program Operations staff with status updates and summary reports on volunteer placement and team composition status
  • Work with local teams, Regional Volunteer Manager (RVM), and Medical Oversight to progress volunteers through the credentialing process
  • Assist with training and support of regional volunteer management staff
  • Assist with volunteer resource development, document management, and data collection and management

Knowledge and Experience Required (education/work):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • One to three years of experience working with volunteers, employees, or customer service in a professional environment preferred.
  • Experience managing both staff and volunteers, preferably in an international setting.
  • Proficient computer skills including; Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Prior volunteer database experience is preferred.
