Your ‘day to day’ As a Senior Blender, you will be partnering with stakeholders across the commercial and operations organization, In close collaboration with designers and leaf experts you will contribute to the development of product strategies that will improve product superiority and competitiveness of PMI’s products. By applying the expertise in blends and flavors you will create new or modify existing taste profiles. In this position you will: • Develop and maintain cut filler / blend concepts • Ensure flavor and blend system are transferable from the lab/semi work scale to industrial scale to ensure smooth commercialization • Plan, prioritize and use appropriate resources in the frame of project management standard methodologies to ensure successful completion of project • Coordinate and participate in subjective evaluation panels • Evaluate and interpret analytical and subjective results. Formalize and ensure implementation of action plans for the next steps of projects • Implement procedures to ensure product spec adherence to appropriate regulations, guidelines and quality standards • Establish product strategies by providing directions for leaf/ingredient procurement and assist with long range plans in order to ensure sustainability We’re looking for someone with: • Hold a University degree or equivalent in a scientific/technical area • 5+ years of relevant development and industrialization experience within tobacco industry. • Knowledge and experience in leaf grading, blend formulation, subjective evaluation of blends and grades, cigarette design, flavor/casing systems and primary/secondary manufacturing • Consistent track record in problem solving, team collaboration in cross-functional projects and carrying out complex design of experiments • Curious, fast learner, agile and can communicate optimally both verbally and in writing with various collaborators • Working proficiency in English, other language is an asset • Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally to support business objectives * This job requires tasting and profiling the tobacco blend in the finished products and therefore is intended only for individuals who are smokers.
