Job Description:
Senior network engineers supervise the workflow involved in maintaining the organization’s enterprise network. The senior network engineer is responsible for implementing the organization's network infrastructure, resolving advanced support issues, and managing the junior network engineering staff.
- Manage deployment of functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
- Supervise configuration and installation of software, servers, routers, and other network devices
- Monitor network performance and integrity
- Supervise resolution of issues in tiers of support as they are escalated
- Lead automation tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Mentor subordinate team members on technical issues
- Oversee, and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery)
- Communicate with leadership keeping them up to date on network status
- Maintain complete technical documentation
- Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Science or Business Administration or Mathematics.
- Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of specialized experience, or
- Associate’s degree plus seven (7) years of specialized experience, or
- a major certification plus seven (7) years of specialized experience, or
- 11 years of specialized experience
- Specialized Experience: The following experience may be concurrent:
- Five (5) years of experience maintaining and developing TCP/IP networks (on Ethernet, ATM/SONET and/or wide area transports);
- three (3) years must be in direct experience with U.S. military command and control or commercial LAN/WAN communication systems
- Specialized Experience: The following experience may be concurrent:
- Active Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) or Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist
- DoD 8570.01 M, IAT III Baseline Certification
